Craving for Smoochies
I do not have much work to do these past few weeks. And on top of that, I've been finishing the balance of last year's annual leave (it expires the end of this month), so I'm not in the working mood. Instead I've been reading random articles, fails and blogs.
This article caught my eye: Sixteen interesting facts you did not know about kissing
These being the most interesting :p
1. An act of kissing puts 29 facial muscles in motion. In other words, kissing can be used as an effective exercise to prevent the development of wrinkles.
13. Kissing can help women relax and ease the effects of stress.
15. A kiss that lasts one minute can relieve your body of 26 calories. The above are a few more reasons why I should ask for more :p
Brace yourself Sayang...
Love,
Linzy

To Arms
I think anyone who has known me for a good long while knows that I am picky when it comes to music and movies and books. I would often say that having loved language and words eversince I could remember, I do not settle for any run of the mill use of words and recycled phrases.
Many people who would have come to know me long enough would have had that awkward moment when they ask "Can I have a look at your song list/movie collection?" only to find out they can find hardly anything that they would like to hear or have heard of/have seen or would like to see more than once. I get that often! Haha.
So if you have been through my DVD album, you'd notice I have a special stack which consists of war movies. Particularly movies about the Holocaust. I have Imagining Argentina, The Last Samurai, Braveheart, The Patriot, Saving Private Ryan, The Pianist, The Wind that Shakes the Barley...you get my drift.
Besides the beauty of the movie itself, the sacrifice, the power of love and pride, strength and all that depicted in the movie, I love battle scenes, in particular when it comes to the battle speech...which is the point of this entry in the first place.
Battle speeches gives me that lump in my throat and sets my heart racing, as if I am in battle and the words are setting me for the rage of the battle. Often I'd shed a tear or two at the words, feeling my spirit rise to face the impending battle, even if that fight is for naught.
So here are my top three battle speeches. The ones that made my heart stop. The ones that gave me chills. The ones I can still hear playing over and over in my mind. (Click on the quotes/character/movie for more info).
Aye, fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!

By the way, [this blog] agrees with me.

Starscope
In the Star today, my horoscope reads:
"Capricorn:
Your mind is on intimate
relations. There are aspects for turning these fantasies into reality but not
yet."
I burst into a laugh when I read this. Fantasies huh? We'll see how this plays out.
In a Firefly 'verse, I would have gone a la Captain Mal Reynolds; "Huh".

Embarassment
accelerator core, classcode 03-
K64, "Firefly".
- River, Trainjob 1:03
Ayus, Fairuz, a friend of theirs Lesly, and myself were playing a trivia game on their Wii at Ayus' place after pizza for dinner. It was my turn to spin the wheel and it landed on the category 'Entertainment'. The first question went something like this:
"In the television series 'Firefly', the title name 'Firefly' refers to":
(a) The class/model of the ship
(b) The name of the ship
...and I don't remember the rest of the options.
In my excitement that such a question about Joss' almost obscure shows (to the general populace) would appear in such game, I pressed the buzzer and confidently clicked on...
B
B?
B???!!
BBBBBBBBBBB???????????
Gorram tian xiao de impatient hands!!!!!
I should be taken to the altar of Whedon and shot like the Reaver that I am. Any Whedonite knows the gorram boat is Serenity or Ning Jing and the class is Firefly. I'm an embarassment. A traitor. I should be sent to Whedon rehab.
Time to break out them DVDs again, which by the way, are broken already possibly from excessive watching. I need to redeem myself.
Forgive me Joss for I have sinned. I suppose 10 Joss is Bosss and 24 hours worth of Whedonesque should do the trick.

Bittersweet
It was the nightingale, and not the lark,
That pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear;
Nightly she sings on yon pomegranate-tree:
Believe me, love, it was the nightingale.
My morning started out wonderful, but bittersweet all at once.
Reluctance held me captive in my bed, refusing to acknowledge the cruel world outside. The one where the sun shines down between the gaps of my curtains to tell me my weekend is all but a memory. Welcome to Reality, Hazlin. Time tick-tocks its incessant impatience.
I rolled over to throw my arms around my comfort that pulls me deeper into my blatant ignorance. The one that lulls me into sleep and lays a stalwart bedfellow. Oh yes, my blessed bantal, I'm talking about you.
But Jewel sings into my ear, a heavenly voice that devilishly forces me to give up my dreams and embrace the day. I put her on snooze more than a couple of times, til I realized that she was the lark, not the nightingale, unforgivingly welcoming the day.
I rolled out of bed, yielding my comfort to lie unaccompanied. I went through my morning routine, going through the motions just for the sake of having to; but not wanting to. Ah, how I hate you, Monday. Today's Monday.
And yet, partially dressed and hence, partially ready, I found myself too taken to ignore the temptation of lying in bed again for a few more precious moments. Just to bask in the comfort once more, til I leave it for a long long time. So I settled myself among my bantals, curled around them and held them close, and let them do their magic. And it obliged me; and pulled me deep into a warm embrace that had me on a high for hours. I love last minute lie-ins.
Then, reality rears it's head once more through the curtains and shines its light on me. Harsher, brighter, and more demanding. I knew it was time. It was a bittersweetness that had my heart half swelling, and half breaking. Because my arms felt like they could not be pried away from the comfort I would give myself up to over and over. I could spend forever in a day if it meant never losing sight, or touch, or smell, or sound, or taste of ning jing.
Shush you bloody lark.
And so we part ways dear comfort, as I leave through the door and away. Holding back emotions that threatened to come bursting at the seams at that last embrace. Because when all is said and done, it is you that starts my day, and to you I return weary at night to seek comfort. And all the time in between is spent thinking of my morning waking in your presence and counting the minutes that are like hours, and hours like days til the nighttime. I could see no point of the trying day, if it wasn't worth the sacrifice to survive to the part where I get to be in your tranquility. So I shall start my countdown now til the night.
Until then.
Love,
N.e-Q

Deservation Road
-Swedish quote
I am spoiled. I am temperamental. I am insensitive. I am short-tempered. I am ungrateful. I am rash. I am rude. And sometimes, I don't even care that I am.
I am a million and one reasons why I do not deserve all that you give me.
But forgive me. Ignore me.
Love me.
Because in my weakness, I do not see.
Your daughter,
Hazlin

WWJD Next?
I read this article this morning, from my trusty Whedon.info newsletter I get in my inbox every now and then. And reading it gave my heart the familiar tug whenever I watch some of them scenes here in the list. It's just one of those reasons that keeps Whedonites coming back for more. After all, Joss said once, "I don't give them what they want, I give them what they need".
It's the strong emotions that Joss invoke that make you feel the reality of the show despite its fantasy-like setting. And that's the point; because no matter how insane life gets, the reality of it is that we all bleed and we all die. Even if you get resurrected, life is still temporary, and you can be swept off your feet even before you set foot.
And that's the beauty of the Whedonverse.
By the way, I just realized that Yanna has posted a similar post :)
Anyway, here's the article:
My favourites are #3, 4, 6, 7...Ah crap, I love them all. But I cried the hardest watching Joyce, Fred, and Angel die. And not to forget Season 8 #19 when Willow dies... I cried while I was sitting on the bench in front of Kinokuniya after buying it.
Joss Whedon’s 16 Most Painful Character Deaths
Joss Whedon’s new series Dollhouse debuts tonight. How long till one of the characters is killed in some heartbreaking and horrifying way? Only time can tell. In the meantime, let’s reflect on some of Joss’s previous victims… namely, the sixteen which most affected the plots of their respective series. When you have a list like this that’s narrowed down to the top sixteen, you know you’re dealing with a serious offender. Many, MANY characters have died in Joss’s works, but it would be impossible to name them all. Obviously, spoilers abound in this article, so if you’re not up to date on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly & Serenity, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, or Astonishing X-Men, you might want to avert your eyes.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
1. Buffy Summers (”Prophecy Girl” and “The Gift”)
"Hey, I’ve died twice..."
It’s not often that the main character of a show is killed off — let alone the title character, let alone TWICE. But that’s exactly how both Season 1 and Season 5 end, with Buffy sacrificing herself to save the world. The difference is that she’s brought back to life within a few minutes in “Prophecy Girl,” while viewers had to spend the summer between seasons 5 and 6 wondering how on earth UPN was going to pull off the show with Buffy dead. But even knowing her death was unlikely to be permanent didn’t make watching it happen any less emotional an ordeal.
2. Jenny Calendar (”Passion”)
"This is where you get off."
When Angel loses his soul and becomes Angelus, it is unclear at first how evil he really is. Sure, he’s callous toward Buffy after their consummation, but until he breaks Jenny Calendar’s neck he hasn’t done anything truly horrific. Possibly even worse than the murder itself, however, is his cruel joke on Giles thereafter. Come to think of it, his careful planning and his uncanny ability to find the most excruciating way to torment his “audience” is reminiscent of Joss himself.
3. Angel (”Becoming Part 2″)
"Close your eyes."
As Angelus, Angel had opened a portal to a hell dimension (how many of those are there, anyway?) and only his death would close it. The fact that Buffy would have to kill him to save the world, then, is awful enough. But to make matters worse, Willow’s spell to restore Angel’s soul works just in time, yet not — too late to prevent the portal from being opened, yet in time to get back his puppy-dog eyes as Buffy rams a sword through him and shoves him into hell. Ouch.
4. Joyce Summers (”I Was Made To Love You”)
"Mom? What are you doing?"
As one of the few non-supernatural deaths during the show’s run, Joyce’s is particularly shocking and disturbing. Her tumor had been removed earlier in the season and everything seems to be looking up — never a good sign in the Jossverse. The realism with which her death is treated in the following episode, “The Body,” is almost unheard of in fiction, which makes it ache all the more.
5. Tara Maclay (”Seeing Red”)
"Your shirt."
Like Joyce, Tara is killed not by magic or demons, but something more familiar: an angry kid with a gun, a stray shot not even meant for her. As a “natural” death, it is irreversible, even by Willow. More than any other death in the show’s history, Tara’s directly affects major actions that follow; i.e. Evil!Willow and her killing spree of pain. It’s also one of the few times a character dies and doesn’t return in any form (a
deliberate choice made by Amber Benson to preserve the integrity of the character she portrayed so lovingly).
6. Anya (”Chosen”)
"Bunnies. Floppy, hoppy, bunnies."
As a regular character for four seasons, Anya had become a fan favorite and one of the most vital members of the Scooby Gang. So it’s a shock when, instead of the usual drawn-out death in her lover’s arms, she’s sliced in half so quick you could easily miss it. Though it seems unfair for her to go out this way, it fits perfectly with the
tone of the episode. No one is safe, and with thousands of casualties in one battle, there’s no time for glamorous deaths.
7. Spike (”Chosen”)
"I want to see how it ends."
OK, so maybe Spike gets a glamorous death. As the self-appointed “champion,” he uses the amulet given to Angel by Lilah Morgan (crossover alert!) to cleanse the Hellmouth of its evil. Unfortunately for him, this involves him burning up from the inside out and exploding in a brilliant ray of effulgence (that’s right, effulgence).
Fortunately for his fans, he would return on the final season of Angel just a few months later.
Angel
8. Doyle (”Hero”)
"Too bad we’ll never know if this is a face you could learn to love."
The first casualty of Angel’s spinoff series, Doyle was a lovable character from the start and it was a shock to see him go so soon, especially as Cordelia finally seems to be noticing his affection for her. Reportedly, he was written off due to Glenn Quinn’s real life drug problems and, sadly, Glenn himself died of an overdose in 2002.
9. Darla (”Lullaby”)
"This child... Angel, it’s the one good thing we ever did together."
Considered a villain for most of her run on Buffy and Angel, Darla miraculously becomes pregnant with Angel’s son — a human — after their romp in Season 2’s “Reprise.” With the mortal baby’s soul inside her, she develops a sense of morality she hasn’t felt in centuries. As a result, she selflessly stakes herself to save her baby’s life.
10. Cordelia Chase (”You’re Welcome”)
"That chick’s in rough shape."
After having spent half of Season 4 possessed by an evil goddess and the other half (plus half of Season 5) in a coma, it seemed Cordelia would never get the closure she deserved. Thankfully, the episode “You’re Welcome” gives her that closure, as she seems to recover from her coma, back to her old self. But at the end of the episode, it’s revealed that she returned only in spirit form, just long enough to tell Angel goodbye and share with him one last vision before she dies. All along, she knows this, yet keeps it to herself; the irony born from Angel’s ignorance is what makes her death so bittersweet.
11. Winifred “Fred” Burkle (”A Hole In The World”)
"Please, Wesley, why can’t I stay?"
Just two episodes after Cordelia’s death, the show lost its other female lead, at least strictly speaking. After being infected with the essence of Illyria, an “Old One,” Fred’s life slowly fades away. In a turn of events which is both relieving and distressing, the demon who has invaded her continues to possess her body. Thus, the character is not completely gone, and Illyria has the ability to impersonate Fred, but Fred herself is truly dead.
12. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce (”Not Fade Away”)
"We’ll be together."
After Fred’s death, tortured-soul Wesley becomes even more broken than usual. Having his memories of all that Connor drama returned doesn’t help matters, either. During the final fight of the series, Wesley is killed in a sorceror’s battle with Cyvus Vail — though from a knife stab to the abdomen, not magic. Illyria enters to see him mortally wounded, and asks if wants her to lie to him — to be Fred. He agrees, and dies in Fred’s arms as she did in his.
Serenity
13. Shepherd Book
"Can’t order me around, boy. I’m not one of your crew."
With nine cast regulars on the series Firefly, it was only a matter of time before one of them bit the dust. But, as it was so short-lived, Joss had no time to flex his murdering muscles. So when the show’s sequel movie came along, he had to make up for lost time by killing two of the nine. Shepherd Book, who appears in the film more as a supporting character than as part of the main cast, dies at the hands of the movie’s villain, The Operative. Rather unceremoniously, Mal and the gang are forced to use his body, along with those of his fallen neighbors, to desecrate Serenity in order to disguise her from the Reavers.
14. Hoban “Wash” Washburne
"I’m a leaf on the wind."
After Book, it seems unlikely that another member of the crew would be killed within the same movie. We’re caught off guard when Wash, declaring himself “A leaf on the wind,” is skewered by a Reaver ship’s harpoon, dying instantly. Naturally, this comes shortly after a conversation between Zoe and Wash about starting a family as soon as this crisis ends.
Astonishing X-Men
15. Kitty Pryde (Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men #1)
"God, give me strength."
Though Joss’s stint writing Astonishing X-Men was relatively brief, he ended it in his signature style: by killing his favorite character. In the final issue of his four-part arc, a giant bullet is fired at Earth by an alien race. In order to prevent the bullet from destroying the planet, Kitty Pryde (incidentally, one of Joss’s inspirations for Buffy) uses her power to phase the bullet through the Earth. Unfortunately, she is unable to stop the bullet from continuing its trajectory through space, so she is doomed to ride it indefinitely. Presumably, she will at some point be too exhausted to continue phasing it through objects in its path, and it will crash into something. Since she is not actually seen dying, it’s likely she will return to the Marvel universe eventually (it is a comic book, after all!).
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
16. Penny
"It’s OK. Captain Hammer will save us..."
An experiment in web media, Dr. Horrible quickly became a cult phenomenon. Told in three acts, it is a musical about a wannabe supervillain driven by his love for Penny, a sweet, benevolent girl who is, unfortunately, more enamored by his nemesis, Captain Hammer. The first two acts are dark yet playful, as Dr. Horrible at first seems to not be very good at being evil. But in the third act, when he tries to kill Captain Hammer, a tragic series of events ensues which culminates in the inadvertent death of Penny. Some argue that her death is necessary for Dr. Horrible to truly begin his journey into villainy, while others are exasperated that Joss seems to have gotten fixated on his characteristic killing-off-the-love-interest device. Perhaps it’s both.

Assume
Was it intentional, or was it an assumption made at my expense?
Or my own assumption made from abandonment?
Is this a feeling I should be feeling, or am I reading too far in on nothing?
Either way, I will not let you win.

Good Day
The weather today has been superfine. The sun was high but not so hot. The sky was clear and not a cloud to darken the mood of such a bright beautiful day. And to top it off, the wind blew steady and cool all day today, demanding submission from the otherwise steadfast trees.
It's just one of those days that was best spent outdoors and enjoying life outside these walls of concrete. Just walk in the brightness and feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. It would be perfect.
And yet, I am not granted such freedom to simply step out and bow to impulse. To do something as freeing, has its limitations; thus going against the nature of it. Nature. Everything is so contradictory. But even then, it is a satisfaction in itself to just be able to acknowledge a good day, even if you cannot fully live it.
Ah well, life is as it is. I'm just thankful for today, for the ability to see out my window each morning and greet a new day.

"That's the same word three times"
I am going for my first interview tomorrow. It'll be at Wisma UOA, KL at 1.30pm with the recruiters, who are looking for editors for a publishing company. And if all goes well with the interview tomorrow, I will then proceed to the next level and meet with my actual potential employers. They are a Netherlands company which is based in Cyberjaya, and need editors to edit/proofread etc. their publications.
Out of all the vacancies that I have looked through on Jobstreet.com, this is one that stands out and is really calling to me. I feel like it is really something that I can do, something I'd love to do. There are other tempting jobs, of course, like being an English Literature lecturer at HELP or Taylor's; and I am looking forward to getting a call from them, but working as an editor seems to be something I'd love to do at the moment. Academia I would maybe keep for the future.
So right now, I'm gearing myself up for the interview. My main concern is about what to wear tomorrow. I had to go out shopping with my mother today to get a bunch of stuff, cos me, the person that I am, don't wear any other type of pants other than jeans and own only a coupla shirts. So I had to get meself some slacks and some proper shirts. So I went to Jusco Seremban, and got what I needed.
But of course, in true Linzy fashion, when I got back, I found out that I somehow managed to pick the wrong pair of pants....wait, wait, both pants that I picked out were the wrong ones. I was like "WTF?!". But Jusco is too far to go to again, so I'm just gonna wear the one that is the wrong size (one size too big) but wearable. The other one I definitely have to change because eventhough it is the right size, but the cut on me is horrific. It bulges and stretches unflatteringly and I am not compfortable in it at all. So, nope. Meaning that I would have to go to Jusco again within three days to change them pants.
Other than that, all I that's left to do is to think of how I'm gonna be presenting myself tomorrow. I'm psyching myself right now, getting myself into the correct state of mind, and correct state of being. That's how I usually prepare myself for these things. It's about adapting myself to the surroundings and atmosphere.... Once I get into the right frame of mind, I guess I'm set.
So, it's best I get off to sleep now. Plus, my Sayang has already given me a good pep talk to calm my nerves, and I've promised him I'd sleep by 2am. Thus, I better get into bed now. Well, not into bed since I'm already on the bed. Just have to tuck meself in and get some shuteye.
So, goodnight. Will tell you all about it after. Toodles~
Love, Lin~

Finding Ning Jing
Besides, why would I want
to leave Serenity?
MAL
Can't think of a reason.
-'Shindig', 1x04 Firefly
Thursday night. Or Friday morning, if you want to be technical. It was, after all, about 4am. Laid myself down on one corner of Fidzy's tatami and attempted some long deserved rest. World Literature finals were in 11 hours time and for a paper that required much mental exertion, sleep was very much in order. And yet, what would have been a deep slumber turned into a fight for lucidity. A struggle to find a peace of mind from the confusion of voices playing in my head over and over again. It was a fight I was losing, and my sanity teetered on the edge; a hairbreadth's away from having myself tug locks out of my head.
My mother always told me, the curse of folks like her and me (and some), is that we care too much. We put others before anything regarding us. And while all this is going on, the other people could not give a good gorramn about us. It's kill or be killed; but here I am rubbing the edge of the knife with sandpaper, dulling it to bluntness to parody the act of killing. While from behind me a knife slices the air to lodge in my back. I turn with chagrin, and yet put smile on my face. I would probably even tell them what a nice job of stabbing they did. It's painful alright; heck, I am more perceptive to it in wanting to avoid it. However, I am not built to hurt, I cannot, but I am built for it. I cannot give, but I can take; but at the cost of permanent resident demons.
My head was hurting. The quietude of the night a polar opposite to the recesses of my mind. And on nights long before the present, when demons came to visit just like this night, I'd stay up and play cards (Spider solitaire, to be exact) while I tire my mind into surrender; to a point when even the clanging of the bells could not penetrate the wall of utmost exhaustion. Sometimes, on weaker nights, I find myself crying in frustration, not knowing what to do; hating the silence solitude brings, shadowboxing, wishing for comfort.
For everything I believe I am, for everything people say I am, for every strength they tell me I have; at the end of the day, there is a comfortador in me. And this is what I am. That is what I need.
I disentangled myself from the blankets and various people bunking in Fidzy's bedroom and tiptoed to the door. Fumbled downstairs in the darkness, heading towards the muted glow of the television set, my footsteps drowned by the cheers of the excited audience on tv watching Euro 2008, anticipating a goal. Well, mine was more attainable, my goal in the shape of a person lying on the two-seater couch (not the one sleeping on the three-seater cos that one belongs to Fidzy *wink wink*) in the corner, asleep. Awake or not, all I needed was that bit of solace from whatever I can get. Just some reassurance that I was not alone. And you stirred and told me to get some rest for my exam. Stubborn as I am, I sat down and stared blankly at the tv, anything to keep myself preoccupied with anything but my overworked mind. I wasn't going anywhere. And so you beckoned me into your arms, enveloping me securely, and I swear I was overcome by ataraxia. Peace. For you put up an eviction notice on the front lawn of every demon settled into my mind. Banished them as I lay in the safety of your encircled barrier. I later slept soundly, no voices to rage on at me as I slumber. Tranquility blanketing every fibre of my being, a warmth that caresses my tired limbs.
For so long I've wanted this and only this. To be at soft repose and calm. To know that all manner of crappiness can go all the way to hell with its presence. And for years I've gone without, and I cannot remember how I did. But for those precious moments in your arms, it made up for every time I was alone and in need of comfort. I've found it now. In your arms I've found serenity.

Twitterpated
Flower: [about two birds fluttering around] Well! What's the matter with them?
Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.
Flower, Bambi, Thumper: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!
Thumper: Gosh, that's awful.
Flower: Gee whiz.
Bambi: Terrible!
Friend Owl: And that ain't all. It could happen to anyone, so you'd better be careful.
Twitterpated -
An enjoyable disorder characterized by feelings of excitement, anticipation, high hopes, recent memories of interludes, giddiness, and physical overstimulation which occur simultaneously when experiencing a new love. These feelings take over without warning, usually at odd times (such as at a check-out line), with or without the partner present, and make it difficult to concentrate on anything but romance. They interfere with work and safe driving, but should be experienced at least once in every person's lifetime.
***************************************************************
"Say hello to Bambi. And Thumper and Flower..."
Those were the parting words my mother gave me as we ended our almost 2 hour long conversation. And to anyone who has grown up with Disney cartoons gracing their screens or has at least watched 'Bambi', the word 'twitterpated' would immediately leap to mind.
I finally had that long overdue talk with my mother. And it was that overdue-ness that scared me to no end, wondering why she has kept mum (no pun intended) after she found out about my current status. I was in Shah Alam last weekend, due to having to go to Cyberjaya earlier in the week and because of the tv interview on the following Tuesday (ref: entry 'My Half an Hour of Fame'), because it was just more convenient to be in that vicinity at that particular time. But that also meant that I wouldn't be seeing my parents or siblings over the weekend like I would usually do. So my mother and I resorted to chatting over the phone.
Like I mentioned, I've been worried over why my mother avoided approaching the topic regarding my being with Ash. So many thoughts rushed to my mind... The wondering of perpetual whys and maybes. It drove me mad, her silence. But after long gossiping on the phone about nothing at all, we finally approached the topic. And hearing her talk about it the way we would talk about everything else lifted the burden in me and made me relieved again.
Apparently my mother has been feeling a sense of resentment, which explains her avoidence in all subjects pertaining to my not being single. She may not have realized it at first, but after talking to her friend, she's realized that her melancholy comes from her being depressed that I have a new person in my life. And it straightaway clicked with me, the reason behind her refusal to confide in me her feelings about my relationship.
This has filled me with guilt. The past few weeks I haven't exactly been tolerant and friendly. My fever made me cranky, and on top of that, the fact that I wrecked my phone made me irritable. So I wasn't a fun person to be around, and I guess that didn't help with the news I'd just broken to my mother. She says she feels like she's losing her best friend.
I forget sometimes that I am (nearly) 23. All my mother sees is her daughter growing up and leaving to find herself.
I see now how it seemed to my mother. How I should have eased in to the issue a bit more gradually and at a time when I could, with a sane and clear mind, make her feel more accepting of it. And I am deeply ashamed of myself and so very sorry. Caught up in my own world, I forgot to consider how it would have seemed to other people and especially to the people I care most.
But thankfully, we're ok now, after her coming clean with me, we've cleared the air and all is right again. Except, well, for some new developments that I've just heard. But me and my mother, we're alright, and that means the world to me.
My mother and I, we talked about a whole lot of things. And I've been telling her that 'tis the season (falalalalalalalala~), cos FidZy is now apparently no longer single (which I found out while in the Fairuz's car going back to Shah Alam, and the news left me dumbfounded for a while). Even Iylia has found herself a guy (this would be her first boyfriend, if I'm not mistaken). And I've been hearing about my ex-schoolmates getting hitched. So...I guess it's springtime. Meaning that we're all:
Twitterpated.
Or addlepated.
Maybe both.
I'm amazed by the extent of how much I'm feeling. I don't remember ever feeling the flush of so many emotions at once. I don't remember. I'm a little rusty in this department. It's been so long since. Even then, it was nothing close to being like this. For all the craziness that happen in my life, it's nice to be able to recline at the end of the day talking to Ash and just bask. It's a reprieve. A comfort. And I've been giving myself up to it, so much so I forget that I'm me. Just letting lose and letting myself feel. I've never known this me. I'm still getting used to her. But I like her already. Sometimes I feel like this is the person I am. Just that she's never had the chance to show herself.
So, twitterpated.
And addlepated.
That's what I am.
But I wouldn't give up this feeling for the world. I love you, Ash.

The Cautionary Tale of Being Me
"The more you live in this world, the more you see how apart from it you really are."
- Whistler, Becoming 1 Season 2
I think I now see the disease that has slowly been making me feel more and more hollow as each day passes. Not emptying the words into this chosen vessel of mine makes it worse I suppose; filling emptiness with emotions that are not made flesh... That's a recipe for disaster if you are me.
Yes, the disease... It's possible that I don't need to mention the incident that caused so much despair in me. It's been a constant theme throughout the past few months, I need not cause myself so much heartache. I've exhausted enough tears and energy into expressing them both in words and in actions to want to mention it again. It starts there, with my loss.
I made myself detached after that, not wanting to live in the now and having to connect with everything and everyone around me. I wanted to be left alone. Well, not really. I wanted to be held so badly but I'd rather be alone than be surrounded by half-hearted attempts at comfort or words that hold no understanding. I wanted so much to just drift away into my own mind.
Since then, I've been finding a way to feel again. And I managed that after a long talk with a dear friend over Italian food and drinks. He made me find that spark again and I see it, and now I need to catch up with it.
Now this is where the problem lies. After so long of lying so dormant without my usual zest, I've found myself a bit worse for wear from he lack of use. The second hand emotions that have been feeding me with me on my back has made me sluggish with rust.
I was awake yet catatonic, now I have to remember how to function normally again.
I realize that I was absent from the world this whole length of time. I think I stopped believing for a while; not in terms of faith but the belief in ever finding comfort or my belief that I can keep on being all that I believe I am (does that make sense?). I think I lost me, and I've found me now...It's just that I have to put the pieces back together.
I guess I believed that my strength will never wane. I know deep down that that's not realistic, one can't possibly expect something to last. But I did not expect things to go that way. But then again, possibly it's a test of sorts for me.
It's like how Angel felt in TCToNC Ep6S5. He felt so disconnected and disheartened that he forgot himself. He stopped believing in the Shanshu Prophecy. He felt like it was all useless and that it was just some fairytale story to make things seem that it will all be shiny at the end of all things.
And that was how I felt. I got so disconnected that I felt so weary and jaded and stopped believing in a part of myself that keeps me going.
So now, it's about me taking hold of the wheel again. It's time to come back to the world and do myself justice again. And most importantly, I must begin writing again. For ultimately, it was my lack of expression that led me down deeper into my gloom. And this is how it begins again....I hope.

Finding the Strength
"Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down...tells you she's hurting before she keels."
- Capt. Mal Reynolds, "Serenity"
When my world falls down, and I cannot be the strong person people always want me to be, all I really want is for someone to be strong for me. Because when I cannot bear the weight, I buckle and stoop; and I need a helping hand to take the weight off of my shoulders.
I love every one of my friends. And with every strength that I have in me I would do what I can to make them happy and make it easy for them to live day to day in a world so full of adversities. And when they cannot stand on their two feet, heck, I'd give them mine.
Rarely have I been in need to be on the receiving end of such strength; a kind of stability, a rock that grounds me when I'm about to drift away. I like solving my own problems, facing my own demons; moreover, I don't like bothering people with the things that are troubling me.
But there are times when even the strongest fall. And I, I'm only human, I fall sometimes. And there are times I fall so hard I can't find the strength in me to get back up.
I cannot be expected to walk upright all the time. We all have crosses to bear. And I sometimes need time and understanding and comfort and love to gather myself again to get on and live. I cannot be strong all the time. Sometimes *I* need strength.
So Alfred, this one's for you: Thank you for understanding me when no one else would or could. Thank you for giving me strength and reminding me that I have strength. Thank you for reminding me about who I am when I thought I've lost myself. Thank you for the lunch+dinner and the four hour++ conversation. Love you loads.
Love, Lin~

Love keeps her in the air
We have to keep on fighting even when it is an endless struggle. Have faith. Believe. The rising dark may always seem to be too tough to overcome, but we have to keep on fighting. I've always believed so and will continue believing....
"GingerBread" Season 3, Episode 11
Buffy: So I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad
just keeps coming back and getting stronger.
Angel: Buffy, you know, I'm still figuring things out. There's
a lot that I don't understand. But I do know it's
important to keep fighting. I learned that from you.
Buffy: But we never--
Angel: We never win.
Buffy: Not completely.
Angel: We never will... That's not why we fight. We do it
'cause there's things worth fighting for.
"I Believe" by Blessid Union of Souls
Walk blindly to the light and reach out for his hand
Don't ask any questions and don't try to understand
Open up your mind and then open up your heart
And you will see that you and me aren't very far apart
'Cause I believe that love is the answer
I believe that love will find the way
Violence is spread worldwide and there are families on the street
And we sell drugs to children now oh why can't we just see
That all we do is eliminate our future with the things we do today
Money is our incentive now so that makes it okay
But I believe that love is the answer
I believe that love will find the way
I believe that love is the answer
I believe that love will find the way
I've been seeing Lisa now for a little over a year
She said she's never been so happy but Lisa lives in fear
That one day daddy's gonna find out she's in love
With a black man from the streets
Oh how he would lose it then but she's still here with me
'Cause she believes that love will see it through
And one day he'll understand
And he'll see me as a person not just a black man
'Cause I believe that love is the answer
I believe that love will find the way
I believe I believe I believe I believe that love is the answer
I believe that love will find the way
Love will find the way
Love will find the way
Love will find the way
Please love find the way
Please love find the way
"Love.
You can learn all the math
in the 'verse...but you take a boat in
the air that you don't love...she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air
when she ought to fall down...tells you she's hurting
before she keels. Makes her a home."
-the wise words of Captain Malcolm Reynolds

A Very Short Story
Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words ("For sale: baby shoes, never worn.") and is said to have called it his best work. So we asked sci-fi, fantasy, and horror writers from the realms of books, TV, movies, and games to take a shot themselves.
Dozens of our favorite auteurs put their words to paper, and five master graphic designers took them to the drawing board. Sure, Arthur C. Clarke refused to trim his ("God said, ’Cancel Program GENESIS.’ The universe ceased to exist."), but the rest are concise masterpieces.
Among those contributing to this compilation of stories are people such as Margaret Atwood, Stan Lee, Alan Moore...well, among others. Not to forget this gem, written by the one and only Joss Whedon:
Gown removed carelessly. Head, less so.
