Sup3rvanity

I wouldn't call myself a fashionista. I love clothes, that's a definite 'yes'; and anyone who has known me long enough would notice that my supply of clothes is so that you could hardly see me wearing the same combo in a month (although I am guilty of overwearing non-iron t-shirts or blouses every now and again). But fashion savvy I am not.

I just love how clothes make me feel. I know beauty is skin-deep, but there's nothing shallow about feeling good on the outside other than just on the inside. When I feel good in both ways, I feel I can take over the world.

But a plus-size girl like me can't enjoy just anything sold in shops. Often I would need to hunt down the sizes I want, or even hunt down a shop that sells decent enough clothing in my size that doesn't look grandma.

But see, that adds to the allure. The fact that I have to work extra hard to look for something I could wear and on top of that, look for something that my salary could accommodate, adds fun to the chase of buying clothes. It makes it all the more precious. And when you've zero-ed in on that perfect outfit, you wanna hold on and never let go.

Nowadays, blogshops have been a saving grace. Clothes are now cheaper, prettier and less run-of-the-mill. Some shop is always offering something different from the rest. And you can just go ga-ga over the choices. The problem with sizes has also been minimized with so many plus-sized boutiques out there. Us gals are spoilt for choice, really.

I admit I feel out of place during times I've been into places like TopShop or Forever21 when friends wanna go there to shop. Aside from the lack of size, the prices there are especially a deterrent. If my salary could speak, it would outrightly say "Hell, no". But even if money wasn't that much of an issue, and even though their prices are not that bad, paying for just clothing at that price is like being robbed blind. Well, in my opinion anyway.

So here's me, not concerned and not up to date about the fashion world, but loves fashion nonetheless. And with my tight budget, finding affordable clothes also needs to be factored in. So I'm proud to call myself the thrifty plussize shopper; hell, I ain't afraid to say it.

Linzy

Of Kebayas and Kurungs

I've been going gaga over baju kebayas and baju kurungs lately. Don't ask me why, I just am. It started, as Sarah would recall, on that day when the both of us were scrambling all over Amcorp Mall looking for something decent to wear to Fidzy's akad nikah. Me being me, I do not have that many a number of traditional dresses suited for occasions such as this. I have a few baju kurungs, yes, but they are worn out from constant use ie during my IIUM days and last resorts for weddings and the like, and I just did not have any decent ones for functions and what not lying around.

Hence began the search.

Now, like I said, I don't have that many of such dress because, well, before this, I never do have that much a reason to put one on. I'd usually have a set or two for Raya, which I would wear for that one reason, and not wear it again for the rest of the year, unless there is a wedding to go to. And it's not like I go to weddings every month. So I usually don't bother myself or my parents to get real nice expensive types. Not because I don't like them, but I just didn't want them to go to waste. And the ones I do have, I just wore them to death when I was in IIUM.

So now has come that stage in life when people around me are getting hitched one by one. And unlike the weddings of my parents' friends or relatives where I dress drably and don't give a damn, I wanna dress up to a friend's wedding. One reason being, hell, I love clothes. And any reason to go clothes shopping puts a bounce in my step. And kebayas and kurungs don't fare any less. And the other reason is because, occasions such as this is a school reunion in itself. I mean, this is when your old classmates gather to see another one in our ranks tying the knot. And I sure as Joss don't wanna look like I tumbled out of bed and into the hall. Call me vain, but I am a little. I like how clothes make me feel. They're one of the only things I splurge on myself.

Let's not discount the fact that Raya is not too far around the corner.

So off to Amcorp I went again. But not before prowling through online shops looking for a design that I would like. With an idea of what I wanted in mind, I set off to PJ. But being someone who is easily distracted by shinies (ie pretty clothes), I was sidetracked by some beautiful lace kurungs and kebayas. Definitely not what I had my mind set on, but pretty in it's own right. Too in love, I got meself a lace kebaya in cream and bronze. But I then got my eyes caught on a maroon and cream kurung. So hey, I bought meself two :)

A splurge, yes, but I am profoundly happy, and can't hardly wait for Raya to come around so that I have a reason to put them on. And oh, did I mention that I might just go buy more? No? Yes, well, I will buy more. The reasonable price and awesomely beutiful cutting and design has got me hooked. And yes, you might just see me prowling the shops again.

Love,
LinZy, lover of clothes

Enspired Bazaar@Subang Square, SS15

I guess I haven't mentioned this yet since I haven't been writing for a while, but I have a blogshop now. Yes, I've finally submitted to the temptation, the calling was too great, as Ash says I am the typical Kelantanese, eager to start a business :p

By the way, before I forget, the URL for my blogshop is:
http://heartwear-vintage.blogspot.com
(I have to remember that I haven't updated in the longest time and there are many things that are missing from this blog regarding what's been happening...sigh)(and oh, this blog is only the first in many. I plan to start with vintage first, and I'll soon expand to other types).

But yeah, I've started since July and it's been fun. Business is good and I love choosing the clothes and then taking pictures of them and posting them up. Oh, I neglect to mention, I sell vintage clothes; old-fashioned dresses that can't grow old cos they already are. But since my laptop got stolen (yes, something else that has lessened my entries and something I have yet to tell), I haven't been able to upload more dresses to sell. So I decided to take part in the Enspired Events Bazaar at Subang Square@SS15 on the 5th of September last week.

Despite the messiness, which I do not want to discuss here, it was fun. I got to experience having a store in a bazaar, I got to know new people and I had fun with Ash, who was with me throughout the day. For that, thank you Sayang for putting up with whatever fuss and problems that occurred, you know what they are. Thank you for being patient and for being with me. I love you..

Here are the pics!

Shopping Spree

It started with Juliana turning to me in the lift as we were leaving the office and asking "You nak balik cepat ke?", and I told her there was nothing I was rushing to, cos it was not like I had anything in particular to do at home. Other than a bunch of laundry, there is nothing that needs my immediate attention. So she pointed to her wrist, where her watch was loosely hanging. She wanted to go to Seri Kembangan, to the Taman Equine Jusco to get her watch to fit better. I asked her why not we go to Alamanda, Putrajaya; since it was closer? She said she had these coupons for Jusco which will expire this weekend, so she wanted to use them. But then, she forgot them, so she had to go pick them up at home first.

So after that, off we went to Jusco. We were talking about lingerie sets all the way in the car, and I mentioned that Jusco has nice sets that I usually get. So we thought with the coupons in hand, we probably could get more for less, since I too, have been wanting a few. And I also said that I wanted to get meself some versatile pair of heels that I can pair with anything; and also perhaps I should get a handbag for my Mum's (my aunt, for those who do not know) belated birthday present. Yes, going to Jusco proved to be potential trouble.

So we got there, and yes, it was trouble indeed. I first zeroed in on the heels that I wanted in red...and I got those. But after second thoughts, I'll be giving it to my mother since she likes the bronze ones I've already got and she loves red. Then I browsed through the clothing section...and as much I would have loved to buy many clothes, but for the same price, I could get dresses online, so I should best be keeping that cash for my online splurges. Besides, I already am waiting for my dress from House of Allure, so I shouldn't be getting any more clothes for the moment. Although I did end up picking up a cropped denim jacket :P Only after having my fill of eye candy in the shape of clothes, I went to the lingerie section and picked up four sets. Yes, 4 sets. They were all so pretty... But I later managed to get myself to pick only 2...sigh. I was contemplating tha handbags for Mum, but found none that were nice, so decided to browse shoes again instead. I found that Cleef shoes were going for RM10 each, and with the coupons, they were only RM8... so I got myself two pairs. Yup, and the original intention was just to go adjust the watch strap :P

It didn't help that Juliana wanted to stop by the Vintage dress shop on the way back... Thankfully I started at a different rack first and didn't find anything that I fancied. Otherwise, I woulda picked the same one that Juliana picked and ended up with alot. I took one black one on an impulse, cos I didn't have anything that I liked, but wanted one anyway...and cos I did want a black dress. It turned out to be super nice... no regrets at all.

So I went back with my hands full. I fell asleep happy at having so many stuff :)

The funny thing is that I was never the shopper. I've always had very little allowance and I was very calculative with what I bought. Bajus, yes, cos I am a clothes addict. But even then, I never did buy much. And if I did, they were the uber non-expensive ones cos I a) like to buy new ones all the time, b) didn't see the point in paying so much, and c) preferred the non-branded ones. And for stuff like shoes and bags, it was only rarely that I buy them...

So to turn to this crazed shopper, albeit with inexpensive buys, is quite a wonder for me. What have I transformed into? I find it funny how fast a person can change. Half a year ago I was dependent on what my parents gave me, and I could hardly ever spend. But now, I feel liberated...and I think that is what that is triggering my sudden urge to fulfill the need to spend. But not to fret, I am not the type of person who'd not eat or cut corners just to be able to shop. I have savings put aside. And I pay all my bills on time. And I have money for food allocated. It's just that the extra cash I have to use to my liking dwindled faster comparatively to other months, and I used substantially more...

Ah well, I hope for better care this coming paycheck as I have to pay for many things now. Sigh, I should go on a clothes diet :p

Last Thoughts for the Day

Once again, I haven't had much time to sit down and let my thoughts gorge down a huge feast and flesh out fully and proportionately to have much substance to pen down. So I shall just be jotting down some quick thoughts/musings/observations etc.

  • I'm pretty conservative in my dressing, albeit my not wearing the headscarf, but modest anyhow. And I've never worn anything that shows legs. But today I found myself wearing a red, long-sleeved, three-quarter dress that stopped just a few inches below my knees paired with bronze two-inched wedges. So there was some leg show happening there. Just not much, since I am, well, short. And odd as it is for me to don such a get-up, I actually felt comfortable. Something a little different for a change. I still prefer jeans, though; but it'll be a great alternative to wear to work for a semi-casual/formal look.
  • Today I topped my last record of being in the office for 9 hours. Today I stayed for 12 hours straight without leaving the office and having just a half an hour break for lunch. Thanks to last Thursday's eCLS outage for the entire day, and Friday being a holiday; my work has backlogged and I had to come in early and finish late to get everything done.
  • I can't wait to get my car. Which will hopefully be in another 2 weeks or so. Perfect timing since Juliana is leaving soon. So I wouldn't have to worry about transportation and eating and the like.
  • The more I think of it, the more I look forward to getting my Masters degree.
  • I miss my Sayang very very very very very very very very very very very very much. I'm counting the days til I get to see you again...
Alright, that's all folks. Time to go nite nite as I would have another early start tomorrow. So will my man; so Sayang, be careful on the road tomorrow morning. I love you~

Goodnight everybody.

Wait a minute Mr. Postman, is there a dress for me?

My little blogshopaholic trio here in WKESP is a bunch of laughriots. They are frickin' hilarious. The make me feel like I am dealing in some illegal drug smuggling :p

While I was typing the last entry, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and when I turned around, Ann and Juliana were standing behind me, trying to conceal the bulging parcels in hand with a grin on their faces. Yep, Mr. Postman has delivered what we've been waiting all week for...our packages of vintage dresses *evil grin*

Finally Juliana can stop singing the Mr. Postman song.

Since their team had a rather hostile feel and they felt awkward unwrapping their goodies in front of their teammates, they had brought it to my place so that we can all unwrap our goodies together. And so we did; each unfolding a vintage dress. We oohed and aaahed at each other's purchases and then we all looked at one another and had another devilish look.

Yes, we were all thinking the same thing; Let's go and try them on.

So we sneaked to the bathroom and took up three of the four cubicles. We tried them on, and all were silently waiting for the person occupying the fourth cubicle to leave. As soon as we heard the door open and close, there were triple clicks heard of doors opening. We laughed at each other as we came out in our new dresses and did a mini-fashion show.

It was hilarious.

The things we get up to doing :P

My dress, by the way, is from Cupclothes, one of the best blogshop that carries a myriad of vintage clothing. What makes their collection so special is that they photograph the dresses simply, but attractively and provide a wide range of sizes and designs. So for people like me, I have more to choose from. And to top it off, their seller(s), namely Sakinah, are prompt and friendly, which makes the buying experience from them all the better. She responds by sms quickly, is very helpful and offers to measure to make sure the clothes would fit you; and is very honest when it doesn't. Her friendly smss make you want to buy more even if you don't need to. So Cupclothes is definitely a recommended shop for your vintage clothing needs. Variety, quality, and friendliness are the keywords here :)

I love my blue, flowery vintage dress. It's nice and comfortable, and just the right kinda colour. A perfect addition to my revamped wardrobe; and it would be perfect to wear to work.

Hehehe...the wonders, dangers and adventures of blogshopping *sigh*

Updates

I'm in that dilemma again when I have things I want to pen down, but cannot seem to find the words that could say it in the way I want them to sound. There are a whole bunch of drafts in my "Edit Posts" tab and I cannot find it in me to finish them. I find it annoying. They are a pain as they make me feel like there's a mosquito flying near my ear and breaking my focus and peace; like it just needs to be executed.

Anyway, this will be just a quick update to fill these much empty spaces:

  • I....mmmmuuuussstttt.....ssstttoppp.....bbblllogggssshhoppiiinnnggg... Ann, Juliana and I are very bad influences on each other. Eversince we've been hanging, we've been buying more, and sharing postage costs when it's from the same shop, and discussing clothes over brekkie and lunch, and I should really stop. For the month at least. I know I've been on this quest to revamp my wardrobe, but this month I have went overboard. Well, not to the extent that I can't go out or buy food or anything, but I say it is bad because relatively, compared to months before, I would span my spendings throughout the month. This month looks a little bleak because I have run on low by just the second week; so yeah, I should slow down. Otherwise it isn't so bad.
  • But yeah, nevertheless, I am hellbent on giving my wardrobe (or in my case, box) a make-over. I want to lessen my looking like a 16 year old girl and getting questions like; Result SPM hari tu macam mana? or Apply kat U mana hari tu?. And despite my company allowing casual wear which I am thankful for, I want to lose the freshgrad look that shouts inexperience!. Reputation needs building again in this new place, and I need to feel secure again. I may have found a place among their ranks but they have yet to know the person I am, how I work, how I deal, how I think. And my looking like a Uni student doesn't help with their talking to me in a simplified way.
  • Did I mention before that I love my team? If I haven't, well, I love Team Australia B; they rock! :) I feel very comfortable in their cosiness.
  • I need to find a new house to move into soon... From my conversations with my housemates, my landlord is looking to move into this house pretty soon. Possibly in June. So I have about a month to look for a place; preferably a master bedroom so that I can have my own bathroom with a price range of RM400-500. But since MMU is still in it's current semester, no one is moving out just yet. And yes, if Ayus doesn't give me confirmation by middle of May about moving in together, either I find myself my own place or I move in with my housemate Juliana.
  • I am too far gone in my work that I sub-edit things even when I'm reading random signages, notices, articles and the like. I would see a word and think, "Oh no, that should be in ’ or that should be in curly quotes, or hmm...that should be lawrefed". And yes, I do occasionally dream of commblocks, green/red/black text, and also resolving links :p I need help.
  • This is more of a Note-to-self rather than an entry, but nevermind; I need to breakaway from my family's Maxis Family Plan and get my own personal line and pay my bills. And I need to pay the instalments for my car. And I need to register for parking soon...urgh, 60 bucks a month. And I need to pay for clearance from IIUM.
  • Oh, speaking of car, yes, I've already gotten my silver Perodua Viva. My plate number starts with WSM and I was thinking of what acronym could it possibly be for; and all I could think of is Whedon'S Minion :P I hope to get the car in my clutches by middle of May at least. Here's to hoping... Well, I do have one carkey with me here...
  • Good luck, Sayang on your first day of your part-time job. I know you will do great. Not I hope, but I know. You have my support all the way. Go get 'em :) I love you~
  • Oh yes, and I miss you, Sayang. Rendezvous sometime? ;)
That's that. Just to get things outta my mind so my brain for tomorrow would be clog-free; and I can think about finishing up those drafts. So, bye.

Love,
Hazlin

Bedfellow

Thank you for forgetting what you forgot.
Oh, you know the khaki green you left...?
Yes, that.
I find it makes a nice companion when I sleep.
The way I normally sleep.
It is warm.
Soft.
Protective.
Smells good.
And comforting.
I know you might need it.
But I'm not in a hurry to give it back.

Currently

Right now:

  • I'm thinking I probably pulled a muscle somewhere in my leg. I am superbly out of shape (goes without saying) and my limbs are rusty from the lack of use. My sudden inspiration to have a jog after work today, despite some warm-ups, is causing my limbs to ache. Oh, and the fact that I was playing some games on the Wii yesterday ain't helping any.
  • I am very hungry, but it's late and I don't have anything good to eat in the fridge.
  • I am calculating my expenses to make sure that my blogshopping hasn't gotten out of hand. I probably need to chill for a bit. I still need that dress, though :p
  • My skin is a little hot from getting heating gel on my skin.
  • My room is a bloody tongkang pecah. I've been too tired to pick after myself. Will begin sprucing tomorrow.
  • I am feeling rather devilish ;)
  • I am sending a Pokemon e-card to my baby sister whose birthday is tomorrow.
  • I am still very very hungry...and thinking of getting meself that pizza I've been wanting. Classified Chicken, you're gonna be mine very very soon.
  • I can't move my legs right cos they feel rather stiff...
  • I'm thinking of how my office will be soon swamped by parcels for myself. Hehehe...all the stuff I've been buying are being sent to my office's address. Ooh, I'm looking forward to that.
  • I'm thinking I should be getting to bed very soon. Tomorrow ABAG comes in, and I wanna be ready for Denise's usual prattle that she sends to me in text form all the way from Australia. Lucky me...not.
  • I am feeling a little lonely...very very, in fact. I miss so many people. And MMU being on their one-week term break, hence no housemates, isn't helping any.
  • I miss my Encik Sedil so very very excruciatingly much. Haven't seen him in over a month and it's driving me crazy.
  • I feel like I need to reconnect with people; lest they forget me.

Outrageous Fashion Victim

So we have to come in for work today as Fashion Victims...

But what is a fashion victim exactly? Someone who goes to lengths to look good, even if the fashion was inconvenient and uncomfortable but still pulls it off? Or is it someone who wants to be so fashionable but ends up none at all? Or is it a fashion that is outrageous? Say, for example, goth or punk etc? Or is it someone who mismatches everything in trying to fuse every fashion possible?

I have no idea.

Being no fashionista myself, I've no idea what's hot or not. I like clothes, yes, but like Ash says about me, I play it safe. I wear what I feel comfortable in and what is less risky or risque. So I didn't know which ways to go.

So this is what I have on today:

Striped light blue jeans+white baby tee+pink flowery blazer+straw hat (the one that you told me to take off in Langkawi, Sayang)+bright red jelly shoes+every piece of jewelry I have with me. It sounds more outrageous than it actually is...It's quite tame, really. But I don't know how I fare in people's eyes.

Anyway, coming into the office, I noticed that hardly anyone is being outrageous. It's getting me worried. Just a handful of people are actually in some getup, including me. So I feel a little ridiculous.

But I don't know. My teammate mentioned that there will be a general assembly today, so that's when everyone will change into their outfits. So for now, everyone's on the downlow. Not sure why. Maybe it's cos they didn't wanna embarass themselves on the way to work earlier. Or maybe cos it's essentially a competition, they didn't want anyone tiru-ing their look.

Anyhow, let's see how it'll go later. Will post up pictures if I get any.

So for now, happy being Fashion Victims fellow WKESPers.

Love,
Hazlin

Another one of those days...

It's just another one of those days where I'm just too worn out to pay much heed to constructing sentences. Heck, I've looked at way too many sentences today to actually want to propogate their breeding; so thank you very much, but I'm gonna make my points short and digestable:

  • Had three products to handle simultaneously today. As I am still unsure of what to do and what how the process goes, I was all scatterbrained and disorganized. I didn't do the things I should do at the right time or the right way.I wasn't sure how to manage everything and how much time I need; so I couldn't really plan.
  • Thankfully, my teammates have been a great help, and took the time to point out how to do this and that... Although mostly I feel sheepish when I have to ask their help over and over again, having to bother them and show that I obviously did not pay enough attention to my training. In my defense, I'd say there were way too many things to remember. Besides, my trainer said that we'd likely only rememeber 20% of what we learn in the 2 1/2 weeks of training.
  • I was told that for one particular product I am doing, they refer to the editor as The X-Files, as her surname is Mulder. And rightly so, cos she, as I was told by many on the team, is a little cuckoo. The words I hear often attributing her are 'disorganized' and 'delusional', and sometimes 'crazy'.
  • I was so swamped with work that I did not have the luxury to go out for lunch. Told Jue to go ahead without me while I stayed back. Was hungry, but I don't think I could spare the time. Thankfully, Maryann was hungry but drowning in work, too, so she invited me to quickly tapau food at the bus terminal.
  • Had lunch at the office, at my very own cubicle, while I read my reviewer's comments about my work. I'm getting better, I hope. Hopefully it's just this first product that I can't seem to get right.
  • Azha messaged me telling me that he just finished the SE test at WKESP. I asked him why in the name of Whedon didn't he call to tell me he was right there in the office? For Josssakes, I could have come out to say hey and give him some tips... Apparently Aishah told him I was busy; but really Azha, you know I'm not that busy to not have time to say hi to a friend :p I hope you get pass the test... Would be nice to see a familiar face in these parts.
  • I was freezing to death in the office cos it was so cold... The rain had caused the temperature to drop even more and I was turning to ice. Had to defrost my hands many times in the washroom, under the hand dryer thingy...
  • Couldn't wait for 5pm, and left as soon as the hand struck the number 5. My brain was getting too frozen.
  • Juliana had a meeting at Jusco Taman Equine, so I decided to follow her. Shopped while she had the meeting. It was a retail therapy that I so deserve. Had so much fun taking my time trying on clothes and shoes and whatnot... And plus, it was the Jusco Sale; so with a hundred bucks in my wallet, I managed to get myself about 7 items. A total bargain :)
  • Now am so glad that I am home and enjoying some good RnR. Bed feels good and comfy and the shower I just had made my brain all relaxed again. The only downside is that my next door neighbour (the wall is the only thing separating us) are having a huge fight. I hear very loud screaming and yelling and things being thrown about. I'm alone, I think, in the house; so it's quite scary. I just hope no one gets physically hurt...
  • Okay, as I am typing this, the yells are getting louder and more harsh. The guy is really pissed. And the girl is crying and I hear stuff stumbling and falling and being thrown...
  • Am talking to my darling to keep me company...actually feel a little scared with all the violence going on next door.
  • Sleepy time now...will try drowning out the voices with a pillow. Goodnight.. (finished typing this at 12:28am)

Love, Linzy~

This time, Last year...ep.1

This time, last year...

I was up early in the morning and putting every single BtVS/Angel/Firefly merchandise (of course, some of them were actually Fidzy's collection of action figures) I thought was worth talking about in a backpack. I was also frantically making sure that whatever I had on looked perfect and in place. From my make-up to my clothes, which by the way, had to be white; and everything else that should make me look good. Not that I have any delusions that I am a smokin' hot specimen, but just good enough to blend into society and not attract too much attention; hence doing the blend-y thing.

I walked down the dreaded stairs of doom, a.k.a Nusaibah's very own Batu Caves stairs, and waited at the busstop until an available cab passed by. Once I got a cab hailed that and the cabbie agreed to drive me to Mutiara Damansara (methinks; but I forgot already), I sat back and relaxed and waited to arrive.

I arrived, I waited, and got hustled by this Chinese dude who called me Adik Cantik who told me to join the talk that was going to be given by some politician just up the street. Oh, in case you didn't realize, the date 5th of March 2008 is three days shy of the election; hence the hustling and bustling. When this dudette, Nicolette Ng, and her friend arrived, I finally went up into the building I was waiting in front of, a studio.

Went in, got my make-up cleaned up and reapplied by a professional, and had my clothes chosen for me. And voila, I was ready to be shot...by a camera, I mean. Ayus and Fairuz were late, so I had my photoshoot done first. Yep, I was there for the Female magazine photoshoot.

I am no model, that's for sure. And no amount of watching ANTM can help me. The idea of being in front of many people who are holding cameras and directing you this way and that, and suddenly being extremely concious about how you look, ain't gonna help in making you feel less like a mannequin. I couldn't move and didn't know what to do with myself. I guess they gave up after a while and just settled for whatever they had.

Ayus had a better shoot, I'd think. It seemed more relax cos she was able to stretch out. I hated the fact that they were doing a close-up for me, and it was made worse when they told me to *smile*. With my teeth showing and all...and for me, that's a big no-no. I just am so totally uncomfortable and insecure about showing my teeth. But all in all, it ended up like this:

Notice Spike and Giles?

We were featured in Female Magazine, May 2008; the Movie Issue

After the shoot, Fairuz & Fairuz sent me back to campus. I had a Discourse Analysis presentation at 2pm, so I had to be back and couldn't stay to chat. As soon as I got to campus and reached the bridge just before Nusaibah, I saw Fidzy, Yumi and Lina looking at a wreck of a bike. I opened the window and hollered at them, and they told me that Ash got into an accident; and that the messed up bike they were looking at was the one he was on.

I could have sworn my heart stopped. Went up to the room for a quick change and rushed back down to hear what happened. Thankfully Ash was alright and was now in his room recuperating. I was ridden with guilt so much, cos I wasn't there when it happened. The time it happened was when I'd usually be hanging with the girls. Ash called them to come to the clinic, and I felt so bad that I wasn't there for him.

Later in the afternoon, after class finished and we went to have our usualy drinks at Bangi Kopitiam, I got so worried looking at the scratches all over Ash. But was ever thankful that he was ok.. Despite him hurting and being sore all over, it's just good to see him alright.

A little worse for wear, but thankfully, safe and sound

Of course, nowadays I'm even more thankful that he's alright. Where would I be now if anything happened to him? Would I ever know the things I am feeling now...? That night after we came back from Danau Kota, and was telling the story to Zaza; I felt that pang of sadness and broken-heartedness thinking if Ash was not that lucky...wondered how I would take it; especially because it was previous night that I had that dream. The first of its kind. And it was that point that I realized I cared more for Ash than I knew...only that I didn't know how much--yet.

This is one of the firsts of the domino effect...

Mum III

These past few days have been trying. I couldn't even put to words how I've been feeling in the span of time it took for everything to happen. This would be one of those times when everything goes on automatic, and your body and mind just goes into default to do what it has to do. Thankfully, I have a wonderful family who stick together through thick and thin, and we have loyal family friends; who were all with us through the entire ordeal. And I have my amazing Ash, who was there not just for me, but my family as well. For my sanity, I owe you, Sayang; for keeping me calm. And to Him, I owe him my strength.

It's hard to explain how the days went by. Words, as strong as they are, counts for nothing in times like these...
But let me break it down to points, for my sake and yours, because I have no other way to recount the days.

Thursday:

  • My mother told me that Mum's condition got worse; she's unconcious and she is not responding to medication. She has to be put into ICU for observation, because of her erratic BP, sugar level and temperature. She's even speaking in tongues, and has to be strapped down cos she's delirious and struggling.
  • My mother couldn't pick me up since I was out of the way, and suggested I went there myself. Thankfully, Ash manage to get a hold of a car, and came to get me from Cyberjaya, after work. Went home to change and get some things and then left for DSH.
  • Got to DSH and went to see Mum. She was unconcious but in fits; I got so heartbroken seeing her like that, so helpless.
  • Sat in the DSH lobby as relative/friends kept coming in; greeted and talked to them until visiting hours ended.
  • Ash and I were delegated to buy dinner for everyone; so we went to Baiti's, where we met Fidzy and family.
  • Had dinner at Aunty Zah's house while waiting for the KB fols to get to KL, so that Ash and I could go pick them up and show them the way to TTDI.
  • Went to pick Echik, Echu, Chu, Uncle Me and Nenek who got lost in Kepong town; and then brought them back to Aunty Zah's place.
  • It was getting late and I had work the next day, so Ash brought me back to Cyberjaya. Was restless for half of the night worrying about my aunt, but thankfully fell into exhausted sleep after a while.

Friday:

  • Went to work, but was worrying and worrying. My mind was all over the place despite having to go for a few briefings... Hopefully my colleagues don't think I am an absent-minded person who couldn't be relied on.
  • Had lunch with Ash. Got to work late after lunch. And had work piled on me like crazy. Next week will be hell. Was so tired from lack of sleep that I had to retreat to the (very very clean) restroom to doze a bit. I only woke up when I realized I was snoring too loud.
  • Ash picked me up from work at 5. Got held back abit, and had a pitstop at Alamanda; so we pushed off quite late; plus with the jams and all. En route, the car headlights died on us.
  • Was too late to go see Mum, so Ash sent me to Aunty Zah's place. Ash went to Fidzy's to figure out the car problems; but since it couldn't be fixed, I couldn't get back to Cyber. Was wishing that I stayed in Cyber that day.
  • Had to sleep in Aunty Zah's place despite not having a change of anything. That made me quite cranky :(

Saturday:

  • Woke up early and went out with Ash for breakfast and to buy some necessities. Went around TTDI to get this and that.
  • Ash dropped me off at DSH cos he needed to settle the car prob and also send it back to Gombak.
  • Was at DSH the entire day til night checking on Mum, meeting visitors and relatives etc.
  • Mum seems a whole lot better, eventhough she is still a little weak and groggy. Her coordination is just out and she is trembling a little, but otherwise, fine. Has a little of her old self back; albeit without the usual punch. Yet still a relief to see.
  • The KB folks, all but Nenek. left for Kelantan, since Sunday is working day and because my Chu has an appointment for chemotherapy.
  • Slept over another night at Aunty Zah's place.

Sunday:

  • Had breakfast, packed up, and headed to DSH. Mum has definitely improved drastically and now is slowly recovering. InsyaAllah, if her situation gets better and there's no need for intensive observation, then she can be moved out to a normal ward.
  • Mum can talk and be her normal self, and is actually eating. Her coordination, too, has improved and she doesn't tremble as much. She's just eager to get out.
  • Ash came by to visit and we stayed to chat with Mum for a bit before we both had to leave.
  • Left for Cyber; and that's where I am now. I'm relieved and I could definitely sleep easy tonight without worry. I just hope Mum gets better really soon.

If I were to go into details, Blogger would probably issue their first ever reminder that I am exceeding the sane limit of anyone's writing in a single sitting. So, this will suffice, although it'll never express the myriad of thoughts and feelings I had about what I felt and saw in those days.

Before I sign off, I want to thank everybody for their concern and prayers and support. To everyone who sent me their regards and words whether here on this blog, on Facebook or by phone or sms; thank you. You know who you are, of course :) My family (whether immediate or extended) who stuck together in adversity, and friends far and wide who came by to give support. And my Sayang, for being patient, ever-surprising and loving; I cannot thank you enough. I love you all to pieces. All your words and care counted for alot, and it worked wonders for my Mum. And of course, I thank You most of all, Almighty.

Thank you.

Love, Hazlin~

Inner Sanctum

Welcome to LinZy's Inner Sanctum
*****
Here's a glimpse into Linzy's little nook of a home in the huge Cyberjaya; an apartment in Cyberia Smarthomes where she returns to after a long and tiring day at work. It's not much, but it's what she calls home now, and she loves it.
This is Linzy's favourite part of the room. This is where her bed, her comfy chair and books, and her clothes are. Everything she needs to make her comfortable is here. She has her bed to retire in. Her clothes to put on. And a nice comfy chair to read and recline in.
This spot next to her bed is her make-shift dressing table/clothes box. On the top she piles all her toiletries and make-up, and inside the box are all her clothes that need not be hung up. Her beloved clothes are in the corner, ready to be donned.
This is her reading corner. Next to her comfy chair, where Spongebob sits (a present from her mother when she turned 2o), are some of her books, BtVS S8 comics and magazines. It's nice to recline here to catch up with her reading.
This is her laptop corner. The perfect spot to have a meal while watching a movie on her laptop. Or sometimes, she turns her laptop around so she could watch while she is lying on her bed.
This is the messier side of the room. The door is on the left, and she puts her shoe rack next to it so she can easily pick up her shoes when she leaves or keep them when she comes back. She doesn't wanna put her shoes outside cos the kids she lives with throw the shoes around at the porch. She also hangs her towel in this corner and lines up stuff like the insect repellent, Febreeze and what not.
This is the corner that leads to the bathroom on the left. And on the table is where she keeps her food, stationery and jewellery. Since the kitchen stinks and the fridge is messy, she doesn't wanna put her foodstuff outside. So she makes her drinks and sandwiches in the room.
She has her own bathroom since she is renting the master room. She's glad that she did cos at least she doesn't have to share with her MMU/Lim Kok Wing student housemates who always have their noisy friends over. At least she wouldn't have to wait in line or dress up nicely when wanting to use the loo.

This the view outside her window. Nothing to shout about, really. She would have loved the one that faced the swimming pool, but this is ok, too. But it means that she can't go around in her skimpy skivvies with the curtains drawn.
This is the big fat Persian cat that lives in her house and stinks up the entire place. It is sombong and paranoid and doesn't like being touched.
This is Linzy before she heads out to work. Her office's dresscode is casual, and so she takes advantage of that every so often. She wears shirts mostly for the smart-casual look, but sometimes indulges in wearing just a normal baby-t. Oh, and notice that the lanyard hanging around her neck is green? Yeah, that's the official WKESP colour. And green is so not her favourite...
This is her workstation. This is what she'll be staring at as she edits publications for hours on end once her work really starts. A box of tissues is a muct for Linzy wherever she goes. Her overload of sweat glands and her pesky sinus sniffles has her never leaving home without tissues. Oh and yes, the dividers are green, too.
*****
So there you have it, folks. A glimpse into the (new) life of Linzy's. It still needs getting used to, but otherwise, it's all well and good. She's happy, and eventhough she gets a little lonely sometimes, at least her good friend, Ayus, lives in the next block. She misses her family, her Sayang, her friends and her life on campus, but it's a new phase of life now, and she's working out the kinks.

Wish her luck :)
Love, Linzy~

Random 25

I read this post on Facebook which was put up by Idzaid and thought it'd be fun to list out these 25 random things about myself. Turns out, it was quite harder than I thought. My typing slowed down at about #11 or so, and I had to think hard about what else was there about myself that I could actually publish for public consumption. So, I ended up with this list... Maybe I'll add another 25 more if I think of any :)

Tagged by Idzaid Idros

Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you!

  1. I am in love.
  2. I am acrophobic and ranidaphobic.
  3. When I was a kid, I loved science very very much and wanted to be either a scientist or a doctor/vet. I'll actually watch them documentaries with operations in them. As time went by, they were reduced to being just hobbies. Now, I know for sure that even if I was good at it, I can never see myself doing anything of the sort.
  4. I, for the life of me, cannot ride a bike.
  5. My biggest fear is rejection.
  6. I got the inspiration to pursue English as a degree (and hopefully more) and also as a career when I was 11; from my cousin-in-crime, Kak Ana.
  7. When I'm in my own space, clothing is optional...hehe, I have nudist tendencies. That's why I try to avoid sharing rooms :p (Thankfully, in my new apartment, I'll have the master bedroom all to myself)
  8. I can watch all sorts of graphic, bloody movies where people get cut up, or lose their limbs in battle or get tortured etc. And while watching, I can nonchalantly eat. But show me or let me hear someone brushing their teeth, and I start gagging.
  9. I know I'm weird, but it's ok if you want to tell me that; I kinda like it.
  10. My vice is clothes. I can never have too many of them. And lingerie, too. (It's such an irony, cos it clashes with point #7)
  11. For many years now, I've been dreaming of owning a cafe. It should have a cosy atmosphere with regular open mic nights. Think 'The Bronze' without the dancing, or perhaps 'The Espresso Pump'.
  12. I always have dreams where I'm the commander on the frontlines of war. Often I'd dream about the preparations before the battle, or about the end, where I'd give my life to save another.. Quite gloomy. Anyone a dream reader?
  13. My Deadly Sins ranked, as suggested by Tickle.com, are as follows: 1. Pride, 2. Lust, 3. Greed, 4. Gluttony, 5. Sloth, 6. Envy, and 7. Wrath.
  14. My ultimate dream in life is to get married to the man I love, have wonderful kids, make my family happy and have a fulfilling life.
  15. I want to write a paper that would first of all affirm the importance of literature. With that being said, I'd continue to present how literature influences/provokes discourse and thinking/ideas/philosophy, whilst merging it with the Whedonverse.
  16. I have a slight case of OCD. Some things need to be a certain way or I get a mite tetchy.
  17. I have an obsession for cheese.
  18. I think Nature's best wonders are the smell of rain, the dawn/sunset and waterfalls.
  19. I hope to be a scholar, have a good career, be the daughter that my parents can be proud of, be a good wife, be a good mother, and be a good person overall.
  20. I am perpetually optimistic, even when I'm complaining.
  21. When I'm charged and determined, I have this song playing in my head: These Boots Were Made for Walking.
  22. I'm glad to say that throughout my life (so far), a majority of my friends, old and new, have stood by me and stayed friends. This, I feel, is a great accomplishment. You guys know who you are :)
  23. The most important things in life, to me, are: Family, Friends and Faith. In a word: Love.
  24. My favourite movie themes are: War, Dystopia, History/Periodic, Horror/Thriller.
  25. My thoughts, ideas and discourse are majorly influenced by Joss Whedon (i.e. Buffy, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog)

7th January 2009

A summary of what I did/happened today:

  1. Woke up early and my dad sent me to the Seremban train station. I was wearing an overly long pair of pants that I had no time to alter.
  2. Went to Adecco International at Menara Yayasan next to Amcorp Mall for an interview for a post as a creative copywriter. I would say it went pretty well. I think my free style essay for a tourism brochure had some impact, along with some paperwork I have to show. Hopefully I'm shortlisted.
  3. Walked around Amcorp and was tempted to buy everything. Ended up with a book, and a handbag.
  4. Went to KLCC to pick up my Buffy Season 8 #19 and #20 from Kinokuniya. Sat down on a bench and finished both at a go. I cried a little when Buffy [spoiler alert] kills Willow.
  5. Went to Galeri Petronas to see the Imaging Selfs exhibition. Enjoyed looking at the perfectly captured photographs of artist(e)s and personalities. Although wishing Ash could be with me so we could enjoy strolling through the gallery together.
  6. Fidzy called, and we decided to meet at KL Sentral. Met her and Shu for a chit-chat while I waited for the time I had to leave to Seremban. Their plans on getting hitched this year has not sunk in.
  7. Received a call from Wolter-Kluwers (yeay!) to come in for an interview/test tomorrow to see if I fit the bill as a nsub-editor.
  8. Went back home, all the while sad that I did not get to see my darling today... I know you had class, Sayang, and I wouldn't want you to skip it, but the very selfish side of me wished you were with me. *sigh* I miss you so much. Hopefully when I get a job in KL I'd get to see more of you. I love you, Sayang~

I do not have the time to elaborate any more tonight. I need sleep cos I'm dead tired and cos I have an interview tomorrow. I'll try writing something when I have the time. Nite~

Linzy.

Wishlist

The time of the year draws near, in two more weeks, on Christmas to be exact; I'd be turning another year older. Yup, I'll finally be joining the fold and will be turning 23.

And as per usual, like many Christmases before this, when posed the question "What do you want for your birthday?", I am stumped. My usually hyperactive mind screeches to an abrupt stop, turning my expression dumb and spaced. What do I want for my birthday?

I never seem to know what I want. At the risk of sounding incredibly cheesy, I'd like to say I don't really want anything in particular because I have everything that I need. I have a great family, I have my extraordinary Sayang, and wonderful friends. I have comfortable homes, a stable life, and a future to look forward to. I have a good mind, sanity, hope, love and faith. I cannot possibly ask for more.

My parentss are bound to ask me this question and I'd have know idea what to tell them. It bothers me because they'd ask and ask and ask when I have no answer. And if I don't answer, they might just get me something I don't really like...especially my other parents. So it's better that I tell them. But back to my dilemma, what do I want? Sheesh. You might say I am bloody difficult, and maybe I am, or maybe I am just too nice to say 'no' or reject the gifts I do get. So it's better if I just tell them something, yea?

So I've decided to make a whatever list of things that would I would like to have:

  • The BodyShop's Christmas range of products ie. body butter, shimmer lotion, body polish

  • Books ie. Margaret Atwood, book of poetry, anything Whedonesque

  • BtVS comics omnibus

  • Acer's One laptop (something my father would usually get)

  • Silver jewelry (necklaces/pendants, rings, bracelets)

  • A phone that has an mp3 player and a good camera (I miss my N70)

  • Take me clothes shopping

  • The BodyShop's Amorito EDT

  • A good pair of comfortable yet stylish shoes

  • Angel Season 1 & 2 DVD sets

  • Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog DVD set

  • Serenity special edition DVD
  • Claddagh jewelry
  • Jewelry boxes

So there you have it. If my parentss ask, I'll print this out for them. That would save me from answering questions. Cos, well, like I said, I'm not one for asking for things. Hell, I'd be happy if I even get anything. Gifts and surprises are just wonderful, but really, I have all that I need :)

Frills and Lace

When I was much younger, around the age of 13 or so, I always wondered why my cousin made a beeline to the lingerie section whenever we went shopping. Then we got home (we lived together cos she was studying in UiTM Shah Alam as that time and she's like a sister to me), she would excitedly rush to the room to try them on. It always left me puzzled.
The way I figured it, no matter how pretty they are, you're only gonna be wearing them underneath your clothes. And rather than spending on lingerie, she might as well use the cash to buy herself nice tops.

Of course, that was a decade ago, and times have changed. For one, for a person who used to hate clothes because I hated having to try them on and feel that itchy new-clothes sensation, or go to the changing room etc.; I am now obsessed with clothes and cannot resist the temptation of looking, trying and buying clothes. And this obsession with clothes was coupled with also the insane love for lingerie.

Clothes aside, it being already a well-known vice of mine; lingerie is just...thrilling. I love looking at the different colours and designs, the materials and textures, the lace and the ribbons. They're all such pretty and frilly wearable colourful kaleidoscopes. The feeling of putting on something nice makes you feel good about yourself, makes you feel like you can get out there and just strut your stuff regardless of what people think. It doesn't matter if people don't get to see you in it, but the knowledge that you have on something sexy and beautiful just puts that extra sway in your walk. But then, if you have a specific audience, I guess it wouldn't hurt. *grin*

I love lingerie. So much so that's it's a sin. I love flowery bras with lace that just wraps around your body intimately and feels so good. Or the satin like feel of t-shirt bras that fits snug against you like a second skin. Don't let me get started on underwear...

For me, like clothes, I've no patience to get meself expensive brands that I'll splurge on once in a blue moon and would not buy again for the next few. Nope. I am content with going to supermarkets and going through their range of lingerie for a much cheaper and affordable price. For the price I'd have to pay at a lingerie exclusive shop, I could get several pieces of lingerie and not just one. It's more fun that way, coming home with a whole load of pretty frills to put on.

Oh, and I can't stand those people who look down their noses at us people who prefer to purchase their underthings at hypermarts and all. I've had the occasional expensive lingerie buys, and I also have the affordable buys, and I can tell you there's not much of a difference. They're all fragile and need special care when washing and handling, and either way, will still get worn out with wear (or tear, if it gets hastily ripped off of you...hehe). Lingerie is lingerie is lingerie. It's how you wear it, not where you bought it.

Oh, lingerie, such an indulgence. If there's one thing you could put on to feel, well, all woman-like and sexy, it's the intimacy between you and your bras and panties. Hehe :D

So here's to being a woman and being proud of it.

Love, Linzy~
